This morning, Jerry Talkington, while at Veterans Park, was approached by a local female birder, and asked about the identification of a bird she had photographed yesterday morning at "The Conneaut Sandspit" in Ashtabula County. Lo and behold, the photo was of a Piping Plover. Jerry took a picture with his camera of her photo on her camera, and sent me the picture. Definitely a Piping Plover; from the photo you could see no leg bands, and probably an adult non-breeding, with it showing a little bit of orange at the base of the bill. If anyone is in the Conneaut area today, it might be worth checking out the sandspit and the public beach.
