This is prime time for stray Swainson's Hawks in the midwest. 1 was seen on Sunday during the massive Broad-wing flight at Lake Erie MetroPark, and 2 were seen the day before at Hawk Ridge in Duluth (when the cold front came through there). At Hawk Ridge, where they are rare but regular stragglers, the peak time for them is mid-late September. None have been reported from the Atlantic coastal counts just yet, but you can check for yourselves at the Hawk Migration Association of North America (HMANA) website.
