This morning I mist-netted and banded birds with my Biological Evolution class on Ohio Dominican's campus, and we caught 1 Swainson's Thrush and 4 Gray-cheeked Thrushes. I usually only catch perhaps 1 Gray-cheeked in the fall (I don't do a lot of fall banding), so 4 today was certainly unusual. Last night must have been good for thrush migration.
For those of you interested in non-avian vertebrates, I was outside with my Environmental Science class yesterday and we caught a nice collection of fish and one amphibian, pictures here: http://blakemathys.com/env23sept15.html
I also had the pleasure of teaching Ohio Dominican's first Ichthyology class this summer, I've put up a webpage with pictures from our various sampling locations around Central Ohio: http://blakemathys.com/ichthyology15.html
