There were easily more than 30 palm warblers all over the plants and on the ground near the old wetlands this morning at Frohring Meadows. If you stood still they would perch on a plant right next to you or fly right past you. There were two lesser yellowlegs poking around in the mud surrounding the small pools of water those older wetlands.
I didn’t see much in the woods except for two pileated woodpeckers, one black-throated green warbler and four white-throated sparrows. There was one area where a squirrel, some chipmunks and some blue jays were making a lot of noise. I couldn’t see anything in the trees. Maybe there was an owl or some other bird of prey there.
The power line corridor was quiet except for a red tail and some blue jays flying overhead.
I could not see back to the new wetlands very well. I couldn’t see anything flying/moving back there.
