We would like to put out an invite to birders in Ohio and Pennsylvania to stop by and see us. If you have never been to "The Center", we believe you will be totally surprised at what you will find. There are over 325 bird and mammal mounted specimens in natural settings. Of the birds listed on The Ohio Division Of Wildlife, "Checklist Of Birds Of Ohio", mounts of 186 of the Ohio species listed can be found. Some of the not so ordinary highlights in the Ohio Room, are ten species of owls including Great Gray Owl, Chuck-will's widow, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Northern Shrike, Evening Grosbeak, Rufous Hummingbird, Common Eider, Painted Bunting, Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, Sandhill Crane, and Passenger Pigeon (yes we have one), just to name a few. Some other birds of interest that can be found in The North American Wildlife Room are Black-billed Magpie, Sage Grouse, Black Guillemot, Dovekie, Thick-billed Murre, Lesser Prairie-Chicken, Willow Ptarmigan, Clark's Nutcracker, Greater Shearwater, and a pair of Anhingas, and as stated before, just to name a few. The Center is located at the entrance to Beaver Creek State Park, 12798 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, Ohio. The webpage is (www.beavercreekwildlife.org). The Center is operated entirely by unpaid volunteers. Free admission. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions call 330-531-3127.
