Thanks to all who replied - the responses were unanimous - immature Bald
Eagle. I have seen many immature Bald Eagles but they were all very dark
with varying amounts of white in the plumage as they age. This is the first
tawny colored one I have encountered.

Thanks again,

Matt Valencic

P.S. It's always nice to come across a common bird in an uncommon plumage -
at least uncommon to me!

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Light colored Eagle at Norton Ponds in Trumbull
County, OH

While searching for the Long-billed Dowitchers (which we never found) Dick
Hoopes spotted this tawny colored Eagle in a dead tree in the middle of the
area. I posted several pictures here
https://www.flickr.com/photos/85567104@N05.

in the hope that someone could help us determine if this is a
light-colored, juvenile Bald Eagle as some have suggested or a Golden Eagle.
Any help is appreciated.

The feet are bright yello but we could not see far up the leg.
