Thank you to everyone who attended this past weekend's Ohio Avian Research Conference.

Once again we had a good turn-out, and got to hear from Ohio's best and brightest bird experts, as well as current and future conservation leaders.

A few of the take home messages that were garnered from some of the presentations included the fact that birds aren't just marks on a checklist but living, breathing organisms that we can establish personal connections to, that grassland birds are highly imperiled but can recover as long as the powers that be actually do habitat maintenance, and that how birders perceive habitats isn't the same as how birds themselves perceive habitats, but understanding how birds perceive habitats can be beneficial to birders and conservationists, plus much, much more.

I hope others who attended this weekend will take a moment and share their own impressions and experiences from the conference with others, and I hope to see everyone again at next year's conference.

Thank you again,

Casey Tucker
