I spent a few hours this afternoon at the north end of Hoover Reservoir, scanning the flats in the drizzle, looking for shorebirds and waterfowl. I split time between Area N and Wiese Rd, and the water levels were so low that I had to hike out a long way on the flats. Notables included:

Vultures: a long straggling flock of 90 Turkey Vultures was soaring along the NW shore of the reservoir
Waterfowl - little other than 180 Canada Geese and some small flocks of Mallards & Green-winged Teal
shorebirds - lower numbers than in prior weeks, with 30 Kildeer, 12 Dunlin, 1 L.Yellowlegs, & 2 Pectorals
Gulls - 20+ Ring-bills and 5 Bonaparte's made for a light afternoon
Landbirds - a few Brown Creepers were at both spots, along with flocks of White-throated Sparrows, but otherwise it was quite slow.
