I used the morning to nose around the south end of Alum Creek Lake (north of Columbus), which is often a good spot for temperate migration. This morning again proved that fact, with a steady trickle of birds across both the New Galena point and the Visitor's Center area. Notables in 3 hours included:

Vultures - 14 Turkeys wasn't unusual, but 3 Black Vultures was a first here
Raptors - not much for hawks, but did have 2 Bald Eagles and 2 Osprey
Gulls - the beach flock held 300 birds, most of which were Ring-billed (280), with the balance Herring
Sapsuckers - good movement, with 6 in various places
Flycatcher - only found E.Phoebes, and only 2
Swallows - a steady stream of Tree Swallows moved over New Galena between 8 - 9, totaling 200+ birds
Vireo - there was still 1 White-eyed Vireo in the scrub north of the parking area at New Galena
Wrens,Gnatcatchers - had 4 Winter Wrens in different places, plus a late Gnatcatcher at the point of New Galena
Kinglets - lots of Ruby-crowns (10+), along with a few Golden-crowns (2)
Thrushes - still found 7-8 Swainson's along with 1 Gray-cheeked, mostly in the woods north of the Visitors Center
CedarWaxwings - lots, with 160+. Most were around New Galena
Larks,Pipits - single flyover Horned Larks were at both spots, while a Pipit was at the beach
Warblers - Yellow-rumps were common (25-30) but also had N.Parula, Tennessee, Magnolia, Bl-thr.Green, CapeMay, Palm, Black&White, Blackpoll, and Redstarts
Sparrows - lots of White-throated (45+) along with a few small flocks of Chipping
Icterids - not much, other than a flock of 40 Redwings flying south over New Galena
Finches - not much yet, other than the expected House Finches and Goldfinches
