While birding in Geauga County today a new birder/photographer showed me a
picture of some birds that arrived in his Geauga County backyard today -
PINE SISKIN's! There were drinking and bathing in his backyard water
feature. I encouraged him to post to eBird along with the pictures.
According to eBird records for the county we are just at the very beginning
of them showing up in our area - by November they are more widespread.

For the rest of us, make sure the thistle feeders are full and the bird
bath filled with water. These travelers seem to be looking for a warm bath
and a place to stay for the winter! I hope this means that some of those
other northern visitors might also be coming this year (Redpolls and
Crossbills).
