I birded several spots along this creek in east Columbus for a few hours this morning, and found lots of half-hardy winter residents already in many areas. I started at Jeffrey Park in Bexley, then moved north along the Alum Creek Greenway. The bikepath is now open the entire route, including the new stretch through Weiler Park between Mock Park and Ohio Dominican. Lots of flocks of Robins and Starlings working through the honeysuckle bushes, and among them were

Pileated Woodpecker - 1 along the trail near Brittany Hills
Brown Creepers - at many spots in the riparian woods along the bikepath; 3 were in Jeffrey Park
Hermit Thrushes - at least 2 were at Mock and another at Weiler
Cedar Waxwings - small #s mixed in with the Robin flocks at several spots
Fox Sparrow - at least one was along the bikepath in Weiler
