Dan Gesualdo and I birded the Huron pier area in the afternoon and decided to move west to check other locales. En route, we had a Cave Swallow buzz by the car window at the strip mall with the Sunoco Gas station (525 Cleveland Road in Huron). For the next 40 minutes THREE Cave Swallows buzzed us repeatedly, flying over the strip mall and neighboring houses and apartment complex. The birds flew to 4 feet away and below waist level at many, many times. They appeared to continue to stay through dark to roost. If anyone is interested in attempting to relocate these birds I would strongly suggest arriving at dawn in hopes that they roosted very nearby and may repeat the same pattern first thing in the morning. Again, the birds flew repeatedly through the parking lot area of the Sunoco and businesses immediately to the west of the gas station. This is right along the shoreline of Lake Erie and a few blocks west of the Huron pier.
