I got home from work tonight and took the dog on a walk. As I was walking
down the driveway I heard a hermit thrush giving a scolding call. I looked
up and saw it in a large spruce along with chickadees, titmice and other
birds. Thinking there was an owl present I grabbed my binoculars and found
a long-eared owl sitting near the top of the tree in a dense cluster of
branches. I was pretty excited about picking up a hermit thrush, the owl
made me forget it.
