I thought I’d let people know who might be planning on birding along Lake Erie soon, that it is beginning to freeze. Normally once it does the best places to find birds are around the hot water outlets of power plants.
This year will be the first winter that the Eastlake and the E70th Cleveland Power Plant (I believe this is the first winter its shutdown) with be nonoperational. In recent years they have run at low capacity and kept some water open, but will no longer do so.
