Late yesterday I was driving on Van Buren Rd., parallel to the Ohio & Erie Canal and towpath between Barberton and Clinton in SW Summit County. This road also goes past the Barberton Water Treatment plant and through a large expanse of PPG property. It is a normal flight corridor for large blackbird flocks, but to say that 100,000 streamed overhead is probably not an underestimate, though impossible to count. Many Common Grackles were seen and probably made up the majority of the birds.
