The last two days there have been 3 - 4 Great black-backed, 2 glaucous
gulls and multiple lesser black-backed gulls at the Crawford Co. landfill.
The landfill is along Co. rd. 330 (old route 30 ) just west of route 602.
Viewing of the gulls can be done from Smith road, south of the landfill,
off co. rd. 330, & from Peterman rd., just west of the landfill, off co,
rd. 330. Technically, parking on a road is illegal, howver, last winter, a
policeman I spoke with had no problem with it. Most of the time the gulls
are atop or on the sides of the landfill, but occasionally, they stand at
the field that is viewed from Peterman road. Both Smith & Peterman get very
limited traffic.
Yesterday, there were 4 adult GBBGs, an adult glaucous and 2 ad. LBBGs.
Thursday, there were 10 adult LBBGs at the field as seen from Peterman road.
Good birding
John Herman
