When it was light enough to see at Springfield Lake this morning, no
dark-mantled Gulls were present. However, I estimate that at least half, if
not more, of the pre-dawn gulls had already left well before light. We
observed thousands of gulls silhouetted against the city glow of the
clouds, much more than remained later. The Kelp Gull may have taken off
while it was still dark.

Good Birding,
Andy Sewell
Columbus
