The surging SSW winds and temps ushered a welcomed late Feb burst of movement along the lakefront today, including a solid showing at my Edgewater Park (Cleveland) count this a.m. American Crows, Red-winged Blackbirds, and Common Grackles staged a heavy long-shore movement. Killdeer and Eastern Meadowlarks, Horned Larks and American Pipits, Lapland Longspurs and bluebirds were among the passerines that made a distinct push today right along the shore line. Some anxious raptors moved today with Bald Eagle, Rough-legged Hawk, Red-shouldered and Red-tailed Hawks and several Cooper's Hawks distinctly separating themselves as migrants among a few Turkey Vultures making a push. Dan Gesualdo had a single Yellow-headed Blackbird pass with Red-winged Blackbirds plus a handful of siskins and Snow Buntings, (amidst an impressively diverse list of passerines and raptors and waterfowl) during his full day lakefront movement watch in Erie County.
