I birded several areas along & near the Scioto River near downtown Columbus, hoping that the freeze would concentrate waterbirds in the few patches of open water.  Either they must have other options, or there must not be many of them around, because the waterbird totals were underwhelming.  Stops at Greenlawn Cemetery, Berliner Park, Scioto MetroPark, Downtown Riverfront Park, Confluence Park, and Long Street Dam produced the following highlights:

Geese - plenty of Canadas around, but nothing was with them here
HoodedMergansers - good numbers, with birds near most open patches of water; 25 at Berliner was the high.
Cormorant - 1 was still hanging out along the river at Berliner Park
Bald Eagle - 1 adult was patrolling the river at Berliner Park
AmKestrel - 1 was hunting along the roadside at Scioto Audubon
Gulls - nothing unusual, nor any big flocks along this stretch of the river
Sapsuckers - 2 were around the Greenlawn Cemetery, while another was at Scioto Audubon
BrownCreepers - 3 were along the bikepath at Berliner
E.Bluebird - at least 1 was near the feeder at Greenlawn Cemetery
AmerRobins - small #s at every stop, so some are surviving the cold here
Pine Siskins - 6-8 are still frequenting the feeder at Greenlawn cemetery
