I birded Egypt Valley and the area yesterday afternoon, thinking that the previous night's weather system would have dumped ample amounts of migrants into that area. I was quite mistaken...

Red-tailed Hawks & Turkey Vultures were numerous
Eastern Meadowlark - at least 9 separate singers
Horned Lark - one only, in the grasslands south of I-70
Wood Duck - 4M, 2F at least, in 3 locations
Field Sparrow - only pinned down one that was just tuning up, though I thought I had 1-2 other
Tree Swallow - only 6 at one spot
Eastern Phoebe - 3
Green-winged Teal - there are huge bottomland wheat fields on the way to Piedmont Lake that are flooded, and he was there
American Black Duck - "   ", plus 4 at Piedmont Lake SE corner (Egypt Valley entrance)
Common Merganser - 1M, 1F at Piedmont Lake
Gadwall - 1M, 1F at Piedmont Lake
Bald Eagle - first one, then two, then three, then FOUR immatures playing over the lake, landing, nearly falling off their branches, etc. 3 different ages.

So to recap: great amounts of water, flooded grain fields, lots of mud, and almost no ducks, not a single snipe, few of everything. But pleasant, nonetheless.
