It is time to start the annual reminders about not stopping along SR 2 in Ottawa and Lucas Counties. Every year, birders are tempted to pull off along this busy highway to scope or photograph eagles, waterfowl, and shorebirds. The Ohio State Highway Patrol takes a dim view of this activity and WILL ticket you. Even if you can afford the fines, Rt 2 is extremely dangerous. Semi trucks and the locals drive very fast through the Magee, Ottawa, and Metzger area. Drivers who dawdle or pull off onto the shoulder are risking their lives and the lives of others. No bird or photo is worth that. Please be safe this season.
