There were at least 109 Wilsons Snipe at Frohring Meadows
at three this afternoon. They were all out in the open, in the
mowed acre by the parking lot, probing in the soft ground, or
hunkering down in the snowy field. I think that’s a record number for
this tiny spot.
Also meadowlarks, savannah sparrows, killdeer and one male
N. Harrier.
Nearby, on Flintlock Ridge, which goes through Canyon Lakes,
I saw two vesper sparrows along the edge of the road
by the barn.
