Today I counted 37 common loons on Bass Lake (Geauga Park District's Bass Lake Preserve (Munson Twp, Geauga County) along with some red-breasted mergansers, lesser scaup, ruddy ducks, buffleheads, pied-billed and horned grebes. Flyby's by the resident bald eagles as well.

On the Geauga County Wildlife Facebook page, Geauga birder Mark Shaver posted his amazing count of 119 common loons on LaDue Reservoir north of US 422. View from Valley Road just east of and parallel to Rt. 44. Snow (now gone), the Maple Festival and loons - that's Geauga County in April!
