A five mile walk on the bike trail proved to be worthwhile this morning. A
total of 47 species were observed, with many "new arrivals" and interesting
quantity of certain birds. The Teal were not on the pond this morning, and
only one Mallard was there with the Canada Goose flock.

*Highlights include:*
Pied-billed Grebe - 3
Downy Woodpecker - 25 (I've never had this many on the trail before)
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 9 (I've never had this many on the trail before)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 3
Hermit Thrush - 1
Brown Thrasher - 1
Warbling Vireo - 1
Black-and-white Warbler - 2
Eastern Towhee - 9
Chipping Sparrow - 1
Field Sparrow - 1
Fox Sparrow - 13 (I've never had this many on the trail before)
White-crowned Sparrow - 1

A lady who regularly bikes the trail told me that she often hears two
Barred Owls calling in one area. I haven't seen or heard any this year, but
it's good to know they're still around.
