I just observed an Eastern Phoebe grab a Cicada off of the ground near our feeders in Carroll Co. and take the bug up to a tree branch, smash it to bits, and then head toward what I believe is it’s nest site nearby. I have yet to hear a Cicada this year, but this could be the beginning.
