More on the birds and the bees: I posted around 4:00 this afternoon about a female Summer Tanager at our bee hives. I left the house for an appointment and returned about 7:30, and she is still hanging out feasting on bees. Interestingly, there is a male Cardinal who doesn't like her in his patch, apparently. So whenever she flies in to grab a bee, he swoops in from another direction and chases her away. She hides in a Witch Hazel bush until all is quiet, and then comes back for more.
