I stopped by this west Dublin MetroPark, as well as nearby parks, looking for strays. Mostly it was expected residents, some common, some not. Included in the mix were:
Veery - 1 was singing in the woodlot at nearby Avery Park. There are always 1-2 summer strays of this species around Columbus, possibly from the Hocking Hills breeding population
Bobolink - 1 male was on territory on the north grassland loop of the MetroPark. This is a fairly low number for a spot that can get into double figures.
Grasshopper Sparrow - 1-2 were singing in the grassy areas of the disc golf course near the north entrance of the MetroPark. This is about expected. I couldn't find any Savannah Sparrows, though.
E.Meadowlarks - 2 were singing at the wetland, while 4-5 were singing along the north loop grasslands
Scarlet Tanagers - singles were singing in the woodlot at Trabue Preserve and the woodlot NW of the Glacier Ridge parking area.
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 was calling at Trabue Preserve, where one was back in May, raising hopes for a territory there.
