Most birders, I am sure, don't realize how rare the Lawrence's Warbler hybrid is compared to the more commonly seen, Brewster's Warbler hybrid. Jeff Harvey, the finder of the previously reported celebrity, sent me a wonderful article by Leo Shapiro that was in ABA Birding (May/June 2005), titled "More Than Meets The Eye", Recognizing Hybrids of Golden-winged and Blue-winged Warblers. A statement, under a photo by Jim Zipp in the article which shows an exact image of how the Columbiana County bird looks, tells it all, (There is no box on the ABA Checklist for you to tick off this drop-dead gorgeous adult male Lawrence's Warbler. But that is no reason not to study, not to conserve, not to admire this beautiful bird and its close relatives). The Lawrence's was a Lifer for my wife Denise and I.
