I visited these 2 preserves as well as several points loosely 'between' them (Rickenbacker Airport, Mackey Ford), and found that Summer residents were fully on display. Both sites have forest blocks, but they didn't have much in the way of unusual residents. The open areas were more interesting. Notable birds included:

Yellow-billed Cuckoos - Stage's Pond had 2 calling pairs, and Mackey Ford & Rickenbacker had singles
Acadian Flycatchers - 4-5 were in the tall Pines of Walnut Woods, while Stage's Pond forest had 1
WillowFlycatchers - all the shrubby open areas had them
White-eyed Vireos - single singers were at Walnut Woods, Rickenbacker, and Stage's Pond
BrownThrashers - Walnut Woods had 3-4, while Stages Pond had 1
Com.Yellowthroats - abundant in some areas, especially at Walnut Woods and Stages Pond
Yellow-br.Chats - moving around: birds have abandoned the Tall Pines area at Walnut Woods, but have shown up in the more open Buckeye and wetland areas there. None at Stages Pond, but 1 was at Rickenbacker.
Scarlet Tanagers - singles were singing at Tall Pines and at Stages Pond
Rose-br.Grosbeaks - singing males at virtually every stop, a noticeable increase for them.
Orchard Orioles - singing males at many areas of Walnut Woods, singles at Rickenbacker and Stages Pond
