Earlier this morning I watched an Osprey hunting over Springfield Lake. About 40 minutes later a second Osprey showed up to hunt as well.  I almost got whiplash switching from bird to bird.  I did see the first one bank, hover, then re-glide a number of times, until it finally banked, hovered, then dove, landing in the lake, and taking a few moments to gather itself and hoist out of the water, into the air, and head SW back to the nest (I presume).   The second Osprey remained over Springfield Lake, continuing to hunt.I had heard that last year a pair of Ospreys had built a nest on a utility pole on Manchester Road near the Ohio canal; if so, maybe this is a returned pair. Also on hand were a Great Blue Heron, 8 - 10 Purple Martins, 3 Killdeer -- all also hunting.  A "Z" on-the-side-shaped flock of Mallards were nervously paddling in tight formation near the north banks, keeping a close eye on the Osprey.
