AUGUST 05, 2016 - CUYAHOGA VALLEY MONTHLY TOWPATH TRAIL CENSUS.HIKE: Red Lock Trailhead south to Merriman Valley. TIME: 5:50am-2:00pm TEMP.: 66~92 COND.: Bright, clouds/sun mix, turning hot & humid with light, south breeze. TRAIL COND.: Dry & ideal. RIVER COND.: Muddy from last week's thunderstorm, but still very low with many rock & sandbars exposed. FT.MI.: 13.63 OBS.: John Henry & Douglas W. Vogus.
I. MAMMALS: 10 SPECIES, 48 INDIVIDUALS, 1 SPECIES NEW TO CENSUS.
   
   - Little Brown Myotis - 1
   - Striped Skunk - 1  (New Species on Census - now at 18 Mammals total since 01/01/2010)
   - Woodchuck - 1  (First August Record on Census)
   - Eastern Chipmunk - 17
   - Eastern Gray Squirrel - 2 (1 black morph)
   - Eastern Fox Squirrel - 2
   - Red Squirrel - 16
   - Beaver - 1
   - Eastern Cottontail - 1
   - White-tailed Deer - 6 (10-pt buck,8-pt buck,2 doe,2 fawn)
