Jon Cefus & I found 2 immature Little Blue Herons this afternoon at Berlin Lake in Stark County. To get to the area park at the Price Rd parking area just west of Rt 225. Walk south across the road and follow the west shoreline until it bends sharply to the right. The herons were wading near about a dozen Great Egrets.
To the north of the Price Rd parking area shorebirds are building nicely in the great habitat. Today we had a Sanderling, a Stilt Sandpiper, & a Black-bellied Plover. This area is best accessed by parking in the small parking area along the west side of Rt. 225 maybe a half mile north of Price Rd and walking down to the shoreline. You can follow the shore north and then east to the Rt 225 bridge. The Sanderling was actually on the east side of the bridge. Our shorebird totals today were:

Black-bellied Plover      1Semipalmated Plover    13Killdeer                        284Stilt Sandpiper                1Sanderling                        1Least Sandpiper                48Pectoral Sandpiper          25Semipalmated Sandpiper    36Spotted Sandpiper            10Solitary Sandpiper            2Lesser Yellowlegs            33
