Hello!

As a follow up to Kent Miller’s post from last evening. I thought I would forward the checklist from that effort. As of last evening, the 2 Little Blue Herons were still on the mudflats south of Price Rd. (Stark Co) on Berlin Lake’s mudflats. To access this spot, you park in a small lot just west of the intersection of SR 225 and Price Rd. You walk back across the road from the parking lot and into the woods. You can then work toward the left and walk along the shore heading south. You will eventually reach a corner that turns west and see a large area of mudflats. This is where the Herons were foraging with a group of Great Egrets and Great Blue Herons.

Of note as well, Ben Morrison reported a Wilson’s Phalarope from the same spot last evening.

As for the other species on the list, they were spread out between an area at the extreme NE area of mudflats by a bridge that crosses the water on SR 225 going back Southwest toward Price Rd, and then continuing on toward the area of the Herons near where Deer Creek Reservoir empties into Berlin Lake and the Mahoning River.

Good Luck!

Jon Cefus
