I spent over 3 hours today walking and scoping the Stark Co. portion of Berlin L.  The shorebird habitat is tremendous right now, the lake is noticeably lower than it was last Wednesday.  There are large mudflats from the Deer Creek Res. dam all the way north to east of the SR 225 bridge.  The only negative today was no sign of the little blue herons from the weekend.  On the positive side were these birds: wood duck, great egret, Cooper's hawk, 2 bald eagles, 2 black-bellied plovers, 11 semipalmated plovers, sanderling, 12 least sandpipers, 4 pectoral sandpipers, 15 semipalmated sandpipers, short-billed dowitcher, Wilson's phalarope, 5 spotted sandpipers, 3 solitary sandpipers, greater yellowlegs, 15 lesser yellowlegs, Caspian tern, red-headed woodpecker, e. wood-pewee, red-eyed vireo, 2 bank swallows, barn swallows, and cedar waxwing.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
