What we believe is the first Clermont County RED KNOT was seen by several local birders this afternoon and evening, 9/16/16 at East Fork SP. The juvenile bird was found by Donald Morse about 2pm, and was still present at dusk.  It was feeding with a juvenile Ruddy Turnstone on the rocky shore of the beach.  Access is via SR 125, east of Amelia.  If driving east on 125, turn left at the traffic light opposite from SR 222, take a left into the park, and follow the signs for the beach.  The Red Knot and one of two Ruddy Turnstones were feeding on the east (right) side of the beach, near the floating dock.
Both birds are very tolerant of humans if you are still and quiet.  They were flushed by children and kayakers.  Photos on my eBird account, and the Facebook groups Birding Ohio and Cincinnati Birders.
