Noting the reports of juncos elsewhere in the state, I just want to chime
in with the fact that I saw our first of the season flitting around the
weedy fields on Saturday. My experience is that they will feast on the
abundant natural sources, and not show up (in numbers) under our feeders
until frozen, possibly snow-covered conditions prevail.

The nightly great horned owl duet continues. At dusk last week we also
heard a barred owl.
