While over fishing for the day, I stopped at Walnut Beach park (west side
of town) and Ashtabula Township park (east side of town) to scan Lake Erie.
Certainly lots of horned grebes everywhere. I saw a few common loons both
places. At the Township park, there were four surf scoter
females/immatures. Also stopped at Sims park in Euclid on the way home.
Lots of horned grebes and red-breasted mergansers, along with a few common
loons. Not far east of the fishing pier, there was a nice group of 25 black
scoters, that included one full-plumaged male with orange bill. Nice to see
the scoters today. Randy Rowe, Wooster
