A Red-throated Loon was present at Buck Creek State Park between 11:00AM and 1:00PM today, 11/11/16. It appeared to be an adult in non-breeding plumage. The loon was observable from the boat launch and from the west side of the lake (CJ Brown Overlook--picnic area) and was about equal distance from both points. Also present were four common loons and a horned grebe, providing nice comparisons for plumage patterns and body and bill sizes.
