If you can get up to the lakefront this weekend, fantastic conditions for lake watching are imminent. Both Saturday and Sunday will have the lake raging and winds furious at 20-30+ sustained with higher gales, from the WSW and NNW. Rain typically keeps many birders at bay but not birds. Driving winds and precipitation can push masses of waterbirds closer to shore and the chance for rarities is very high. Checking shorelines, marinas, harbors right in the middle of a front can produce excellent birds.
