Stopped by Pickerington Ponds (both the Wood Duck area and Ellis Pond), as well as nearby Portman Park and Chatterton Greenbelt, this morning and found water levels extremely low. At Pick Ponds, only Green-wing Pond and Ellis Pond had any water, and the former was shrinking fast. Ducks were in surprisingly short supply; part of that might have been the presence of 2 adult Bald Eagles nonchalantly sitting in snags at Greenwing Pond. Notable birds included:

Waterfowl - only a few Mallards & Wood Ducks scattered between Greenwing & Ellis Ponds, along with a few Hooded Mergansers
Other Waterbirds - 4 Pied-billed Grebes and 16 Coots were swimming around at Greenwing Pond despite the eagles
Bald Eagles - 2 adult birds on small snags at Greenwing Pond didn't appear to be hunting, if the nearby waterfowl were any indication.
Other Raptors - Red-tails (4), N.Harrier (2), and 1 Cooper's Hawk all were around Pick Ponds
Shorebirds - Killdeer were at both ponds, but Greenwing Pond also had a Wilson's Snipe
BrownCreepers - 2 at both Portman and Chatterton may signal an influx of them with the colder weather
Bluebirds - a flock of 6 was near the Wood Duck Picnic area
Tree Sparrows - 16-20 were scattered between the 2 feeders at Wood Duck & Glacier Ridge parking areas at Pick Ponds.
Swamp Sparrows - 3-4 were at Pick POnds, and singles were at Portman & Chatterton, so they're still in good #s here.
