In mid-morning I visited Lakeshore Park and Walnut Beach in Ashtabula.  The only bird of interest at Walnut Beach was a Carolina wren.  Lakeshore Pk. had 14 lesser scaup, red-breasted mergansers, horned grebes, 8 double-crested cormorants, small numbers of ring-billed and herring gulls, and a red-bellied woodpecker.  The afternoon was spent at Conneaut harbor, which produced: buffleheads, 27 red-breasted mergansers, 14 common mergansers, 7 horned grebes, 8 double-crested cormorants, 2 great blue herons, bald eagle, Am. coot, 325 ring-billed gulls, 45 herring gulls, a third-winter lesser black-backed gull, 16 Bonaparte's gulls, only 1 imm. great black-backed gull.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
