It was winter sparrow-palooza at 3-Creeks Park in south Columbus this morning, with flocks of sparrows in many locations around the park. I stopped at Confluence, Cruiser Pond, Borrow Pits, Winchester Lake, Oxbow Area, and Heron Pond. Water levels were fairly low, so many of the shallow pools have dried out, leaving meager waterfowl habitat. Fortunately, brushy edges and honeysuckle in berry was abundant here, so there were large #s of Robins, waxwings, starlings, and sparrows. Notable birds included:

BrownCreepers - 3-4 were in the riparian woods down near the Confluence, a good # for this year so far
Golden-cr.Kinglets - 3-4 were scattered around the Confluence area
Tree Sparrows - widely scattered, with the only large flock being 12 birds near Oxbow
Swamp Sparrows - also widespread, with the largest # being 4 at Cruiser Pond
Fox Sparrows - at least 2 birds - one at the powerline cut at Confluence, the other at Winchester lake
White-crowned Sparrows - 1 at Winchester lake and 2 near Oxbow were good for this increasingly-scarce bird
White-throated Sparrows - perhaps the most common bird of the morning, with flocks at every stop
