A few months ago The Wilderness Center in Stark county mowed down the
"invasive" shrubs and scrub near the beginning of the trail and around the
power lines to make room for a prairie garden. The shrubby areas were one
of the best places I knew of for Yellow-breasted Chats and White-eyed
Vireos. I guess even parks and protected areas are unkind to scrub-loving
birds! I actually haven't been to The Wilderness Center recently but I
would guess there are fewer wintering sparrows there as well. (Except for
Fox Sparrows, which regularly overwinter in the woods)
