The Christmas Bird Count at Eastwood Metropark, Dayton, OH will take place on Saturday, December 17, starting at 8:30 am. Use the entrance at 1401 Harshman Rd. and we will meet at the first large parking lot on the right, next to the lake. We will start with observing the lake and surrounding area, then split up into teams to cover the east side of the park and nearby Huffman Dam Metropark and surrounding area. We will meet back at the Eastwood parking lot about 12:00 noon to consolidate our counts. There is construction on Harshman Rd. that does affect the entrance to Eastwood Metropark, but it is easy to get through. The weather forecast is for some nasty weather for that weekend, so be careful and remember the wind chill at Eastwood Lake can be pretty severe. Hopefully the wintry weather will bring in more ducks and winter birds.
