While driving east on the Shoreway yesterday coming from Edgewater Park I saw a Merlin on a lamppost next to the road. I was able to pull off and find a nice, safe sidestreet where I parked. I walked to a bridge over the Shoreway and got a good view and some pics of the bird. See my Flickr account for the pics of the falcon and also one really brave great blue heron in Rocky River. I know the herons will stick around for the winter if they can find open water and food; but, they must have a tough time.
