To follow up on Bill Whan's report of his search this morning, the Ivory Gull was not seen this afternoon either. About a dozen birders were at the beach at Alum Creek and watched the sun sink into the western sky without any sight of the Ivory Gull! The original finder of this very rare gull, Robert Yokum, told Jason Simonis this afternoon that the gull flew away high and north.

This weekend there will be many CBCs going on around the state. I would encourage anyone covering a large body of water to be extra vigilant for this rare gull. If the bird is spotted, please get word of its location out to this listserv and as many of the Facebook pages as possible.

Good Birding!
Happy New Year!
