Sunday afternoon at Pickerington Ponds Metro Park southwest of Columbus had a good variety of waterfowl. Viewed from the observation points at Wood Duck, Arrowhead Marsh, Ellis Pond, and Ellis Pond, I found 12 anatid species: Hooded Merganser, Bufflehead, Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Duck, Green-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Mallard, American Black Duck, American Wigeon, Gadwall, and Canada Goose. Also, Pied-billed Grebe and American Coot. Landbird variety was good as well and included an Eastern Meadowlark and a few Tree Swallows.
