Waterfowl migration seems to have burst open in a big way here in central Ohio, if this morning at Alum Creek reservoir is any indication.  I stopped at New Galena, the beach area, old Lewis Center Rd, Hollenback Rd & marina, Cheshire boat launch, and Berlin Station access, and had flocks of diving ducks at every stop, along with a smattering of other 'migrants'.  Included among the notables were:

Lesser Scaup - most common diver, with 600+ birds, over all shore sites
Greater Scaup - mixed in with the flocks in small numbers, 30+ total
Redhead - also abundant, with nearly 400 birds
Ring-necked Ducks - small #s in every flock, perhaps 100 in all
Bufflehead - a flock of 5 off the beach
ComGoldeneye - only 1, off the beach
Red-br.Mergansers - 10+, mostly by themselves
Hooded Merganser - 4
Trumpeter Swan - 1 was off the beach area
Canada Geese - small flocks at every stop
Wigeon - 6+ at two of the stops
Green-winged Teal - 3 along the shore at New Galena

Bald Eagles - a juvenile was soaring over Cheshire causeway, while an adult was perched along the shore north of Berlin Access
Gulls - 250 Ring-bills were on the beach, with smaller #s elsewhere, while 8 Bonapartes were along the Cheshire causeway
N.Flickers - good movement, with 3-5 at nearly every stop
E.Bluebirds - small #s at both New Galena and the Visitor's Center areas
Mockingbird - at least one along the dike at the east end of the dam
Yellow-rumped Warblers - small #s at most stops, topped by 5 near Hollenback Dog Park
Blackbirds - Redwings everywhere, but also had a few small flocks of grackles and 2-3 cowbirds.
