We made a quick run through the trails at this MetroPark southeast of Columbus this afternoon, after the rain storms had passed through the area. Although the woods were dripping and partly flooded, there was a decent showing of migrants, including

raptors - Cooper's, Red-shouldered, and Red-tailed hawks were all on the prowl, searching for migrants, just like us

woodpeckers - 1 Red-headed Woodpecker continues to haunt the area around Ashton Pond

flycatchers - 4 E.Phoebes were around the picnic shelters, while 2 Great Cresteds were along the Maple Loop trail

Vireos - oddly, only a single Red-eyed was singing

Swallows - Tree & Barn Swallows were in some of the meadows

Wrens - House Wrens were abundant along the trails, as were resident Carolina Wrens

Gnatcatchers - 8-9 were along the woodland trails, continuing their strong showing this Spring

Thrushes - 4-5 Wood Thrushes were singing along the Beech & Maple Loops

Mimids - 3 Catbirds and 1 Brown Thrasher were around the edges of the picnic areas

Warblers - Yellow-rumps still the most common (with 5-6), but also had Nashville, Tennessee (my FOS), Yellow, Parula, Black&White, Blue-winged (2), Yellow-throated, Black-thr.Greens, N.Waterthrush, and ComYellowthroats

Tanagers - 1 Scarlet was singing along the Maple Loop Trail

Sparrows - small flocks of White-throateds added to the typical Chipping - Field - Song mix

Buntings,Grosbeaks - 2 singing Indigo Buntings and 2 pairs of Rose-br.Grosbeaks were around the Nature Center area

Blackbirds - plenty of Redwings, Grackles, and Cowbirds, but no Orioles (though we didn't loop down to the creek where they're more likely).
