MAY 12, 2017 - CUYAHOGA VALLEY MONTHLY TOWPATH TRAIL CENSUS.
HIKE: Red Lock Trailhead south to Merriman Valley. TIME: 5:50am - 4:05pm
TEMP.: 53 ~ 60.
COND.: Cloudy and cool all day. TRAIL COND.: Fair - some puddling and muddy
spots. RIVER COND.: Higher than normal and muddy - few rock and sandbars
visible.
FT.MI.: 13.51 OBS.: John Henry and Douglas W. Vogus.

I. MAMMALS: 6 SPECIES, 52 TOTAL.

   1. Eastern Chipmunk - 34
   2. Eastern Gray Squirrel - 1 (black morph)
   3. Eastern Fox Squirrel - 3
   4. Red Squirrel - 9
   5. Common Muskrat - 1
   6. White-tailed Deer - 4 (doe)


II. BIRDS: 89 SPECIES, 1,213 TOTAL BIRDS.
(Third highest species in May since 2010 (104 in 2014 and 90 in 2011);
Highest total birds in May (previous was 1,202 in 2010)
